Stephanie Birdsall is a member of the Putney Painters, founded by Richard Schmid and Nancy Guzik. Her paintings in oil and pastel are based on Schmid’s color charts, featured in “Alla Prima.”
Working with flowers and fruit (she loves leaves), this workshop will either introduce the student to or help hone their color mixing skills. Students will concentrate on beautiful, intentional brushstrokes, paint quality along with edges and values. The subject matter will be from life.
Each day will start with a 25 stroke painting to warm up and practice intentional brush strokes and color. Stephanie will assist in still life set ups and instruct students on how to look for the rhythm and fall of light on the subject.Students will pick a color they like to concentrate on for at least one painting and bring items in that color. It’s an intense and fun filled opportunity to truly gain a deeper understanding of what you are painting and how you want to paint! This workshop can be taken in either pastel or oil.
